Hello! my name is Shiqi Ning!

I got my MS degree in Analytics (with a concentration in Data Science) from Georgetown University in May 2020. I'm actively seeking for a full position as a Data Analyst, Business Intelligence/Analyst or Data Scientist.

I've taken interesting and meaningful courses relating to data analytics. I enjoy spending time working as a data person.

Working Experience


  • Jul, 2020 – Present, Remote, D.C., USA

    Neighborhood Rescue of America

    Data Analytics Team Tech Lead
    • Scraped over 100k open crime data and shapefiles in DC using Python; automated data extraction and data preprocessing, and achieved a 30% decrease in time of data exploratory and cleaning processes; Created multi-layer interactive maps using Python folium; embedded maps on NRA website, which now serves as a tool displaying community resources for kids’ success.
    • Constructed logistic regression, random forest and LGB models to predict LinkedIn responses; achieved 94% accuracy after tuning; identified feature importance using SHAP; increased 50% efficiency in notes sending and potential partner matching.
    • Built a full-stack animal abuse registry web application using Django, crawled data from dynamic ebpages using Python Selenium, and extracted key features by regular expression; stored static files in AWS S3 buckets and connected clean data to PostgreSQL database in AWS RDS instance; wrote JavaScript, HTML, and CSS as frontend.
    • Led team of 5 to work on various projects; adminitrated 4-week data & research internship program, coached and provided assistance to the new hires.

  • Improved the accuracy of existing model that predicts potential investment opportunities (net total return over the next 10 day) by analyzing the underlying market movement factors and identifying potential market growth cycles.
  • Extracted 15-year of financial data for over 50 countries via Bloomberg API, built relational database and processed data (lags, aggregation, transformations, rolling means) in MySQL Workbench to effectively store data and remove data seasonality.
  • Applied PCA to reduce dimensions and noise with Python; implemented model stacking technique with logistic regression and XGBoosting algorithm, and achieved a 8% increase in the final prediction accuracy.
  • Created interactive visualizations with dropdown options using Excel and VBA in order to communicate findings efficiently to nontechnical parties; automated the prediction process with Windows Task Scheduler and saved 5 hours for each run.
